How to Hear Your Inner Song · A Practice in Three Parts

You were born with a song. Every soul is. It is not a melody you would recognise — it is a frequency, a baseline tone, the way you are tuned. Some souls come in tuned to compassion; some to fierce truth; some to wide listening. Whatever yours is, it is yours. And the work — the only work, ultimately — is to quiet the outside chatter long enough to remember it.

Part one · the noticing

Find a quiet place. No headphones yet. No music. Just you and a soft room. Close your eyes. Listen — not for sound, but for whatever is louder than silence. Notice the thinking. Notice the voices that are not yours (a parent's voice, a teacher's, a culture's). Notice the inherited tones. This is the chatter. Most of us have lived inside it so long that we cannot hear ourselves underneath. The first part of the practice is simply learning to hear that there is an underneath.

Part two · the toning

Open your mouth gently. Hum. Not a song. Not a tone you've chosen. Just whatever the body wants to make. Stay there for thirty seconds. Notice what happens to the chatter. It does not disappear — it softens. The hum is a wave that displaces the noise the way a stone in a river displaces the current. The longer you tone, the longer the displacement holds.

Part three · the listening

Stop toning. Stay in the silence the tone leaves behind. This is the gap where the inner song lives. Listen — gently — for the tone your body wants to make next. Do not force it. Do not pre-decide what it sounds like. Just let it arise. Then voice it. Then listen. Then voice the next. The practice is a slow conversation with yourself — body voicing, soul listening, body voicing again.

Over time, this conversation has a sound. Not a melody you could write down. But a tonal centre your body keeps returning to. That is your inner song. Welcome home.

The Tundala tool was made to help you practice

Tundala was built as a single sanctuary with everything you need to find your inner song — in one place, free. The Tuner shows you the exact note your voice is reaching for in real time, so you can map the song to a musical frequency. The Soul Mandala draws what your voice looks like cymatically — so you can see the song. Use them however your soul calls — sometimes one, sometimes the other, sometimes both in the same sitting.
