The Throat Chakra · Why So Many Souls Are Choking on Their Own Voice

The throat chakra has a job nothing else in the body can do: carry what is inside out into the world. When it closes — and it closes for most of us, early, in subtle ways — the cost is enormous. You begin to feel things you cannot say. You begin to know things you cannot speak. You begin to live a slightly muted version of yourself.

How it gets stuck

Almost always, the same way: someone, at some point, was not safe to hear you. A parent who tightened when you were honest. A teacher who corrected your singing. A partner who interrupted. A culture that prized the polite voice over the true one. The body remembers. The throat shortens. The voice tightens. Over the years the door becomes a hinge that has rusted shut.

The signs

  • Frequent throat clearing or a 'lump' that won't passthe body is rehearsing something it never got to say
  • Voice that comes out smaller than you feel insidethe inside-outside ratio is off
  • Dreams of teeth falling outin classical dream symbology, a voicing issue
  • A pull toward singers and singing — and a fear of doing it yourselfthe soul knows where the medicine is
  • Recurring throat infections, hoarseness, or tensionthe energetic gate has been closed too long

The simplest practice

Find a soft place. Close your eyes. Open your mouth gently. Hum. Not a song. Not a melody. Just the tone your body wants to make. Stay there for sixty seconds. Notice where in your face the vibration settles. Notice if your eyes water. Notice if your jaw releases on its own. This is the practice. Repeat it whenever you remember.

Where to go from here

If the practice landed, the Soul in Love Sound Library has a dedicated 741 Hz tone (the Solfeggio frequency historically associated with the throat) and the Tundala Chant module has the seed sound HAM — the throat chakra's bija mantra — paired with its drone tone so you can chant with it. Begin there.
